LA County Pledges $100K to Improve Foster Services to LGBTQ Youth

On Oct. 6, the LA County board of supervisors passed a motion committing $100,000 to reassess and improve services directed at LGBTQ foster youth. The motion calls for the hiring of an expert consultant to analyze data in order to find ways to provide culturally competent care and support for LGBTQ foster youth, including identifying training needs for staff and contractors serving this segment of the foster care population. The motion is a step forward for the LA County foster care system, in which LGBTQ youth are overrepresented.
