By the age of 8, at least 1 in 5 children owns a phone, according to recent data, and more children are spending several hours a day on screen, be it computer or phone.
Whether texting, watching videos, or browsing the internet and social media accounts, teenagers are spending 7 hours a day in front of screens, while tweens (ages 8 to 12) are spending 5 hours a day.
The data was collected through a survey from Common Sense Media and points to the fact that 84 percent of teenagers have their own phones now, and an even larger percentage are essentially required to be in front of screens when it comes to school work.
