The Philadelphia Museum of Art is no longer offering free admission to students as of July.
Local art students had been permitted free admission for years, but the institution decided to remove the policy recently after local colleges began expanding their awards and scholarships to arts students, increasing free admissions to the museum. The museum decided that it couldn’t pick and choose who would get in for free, so it decided to remove the free admission for all students.
The institution informed local colleges and institutions via a letter earlier this year, noting that it was not financially viable for the museum to continue providing them with free admission.
Now the museum is offering a student discount instead.
