Parks all across the U.S. have installed sonic devices called Mosquitos, which essentially emit a high-pitched sound that can only be heard by youthful ears – or by those under the age of 25, approximately.
The device has been implemented into many parks and public spaces in areas across the country in hopes of scaring off young people from loitering or vandalizing at night.
Though the device was banned in many regions after some leaders claimed that the device perpetuates discrimination against young people, it has been adapted by many other regions.
Though the device is only supposed to be heard by people under the age of 25, some older people have complained about the noise, claiming that it causes headaches and doesn’t serve a great purpose.
