A new survey from the Exponent Philanthropy’s 2018 “Foundation Operations and Management Report” found that although more female leaders are taking the reins at foundations, they are still paid less than their male counterparts.
The survey included more than 300 participants, and more than half of top leaders (at least 66 percent) were female, yet their compensation was an average of $120,000 compared to men in the same roles who are paid an average of more than $150,000.
The survey also found drastic differences in salaries for women and men in administrative roles at foundations. On average, women make a little more than $63,000 compared to their male counterparts who are making just over $81,000.
