The city of Seattle is following national trends of homelessness that has impacted other US communities.
According a new study conducted by the United Nations, the rate of homelessness in Seattle has increased due to the growing opioid crisis.
Moreover, experts believe that citizens are unable to obtain affordable housing in Washington where the cost of living has drastically increased.
As a result, the homeless service system within the state has been unable to support those in need.
Seattle officials are examining possible housing solutions for those facing poverty as well as low-income individuals.
