The Trump Foundation is finally shutting down after a recent announcement that the organization filed with the IRS to distribute the remainder of its funds.
Reports indicate that the organization donated a total of $3 million over the last year — more than previous years combined. It currently holds funds in the amount of $97,000 with distributions to nonprofits pending.
Trump announced last year after the election that he would shut down the foundation in order to avoid conflicts of interest.
The organization has been under investigation since last year.
“As the foundation is still under investigation by this office, it cannot legally dissolve until that investigation is complete,” officials announced.
