New data from Childline shows a 15% increase in the number of children and youth that are calling into hotlines with suicidal thoughts. Helplines conducted more than 60 sessions with suicidal children on the phone each day in 2016.
The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) reported that the data suggests children are more open to seeking help.
However, beyond obvious reasons of the dangers posed to children, the data is troubling because long wait times are not uncommon, and data shows that children as young as 10 years old are calling in for help.
