Between the years of 2005 to 2012, the number of calls to poison control centers in the U.S. related to issues with dietary supplements increased by 50 percent.
In many cases, children were the ones being exposed to the supplements with high toxicity, according a report published in the Journal of Medical Toxicology.
Dr. Jennifer Ashton, the Chief Women’s Health Correspondent of ABC News, advised that parents should never assume that supplements are safe because they are labeled as natural.
