LGBT Pride Month in June is marked by an influx of parades and social gatherings, but many attendees will mold the gatherings into marches for equal rights.
The city of Los Angeles is spearheading Resist March, which will advocate for unity among communities worldwide.
“We’re lending our giant iconic rainbow flag not just to the LGBTQ community, but to anyone who feels threatened,” explained Anika Simpson, co-organizer of the event.
While some major sponsors have withdrawn their support for the newfound political parades, supporters feel encouraged to transform the message of their gatherings.
“For me it’s not about these corporations usurping our movement. For me, the Resist March is really about coming back to our roots,” said supporter Drian Juarez.
