With the possible deportation of thousands of immigrants from the US, many are concerned disabled children of migrant families will face the most obstacles.
Current immigration officers state that immigrants with criminal records will be deported to their native countries, but many fear the scope of individuals who will be extradited will widen.
In particular, immigrants fear their possible deportation will place their disabled children in grave danger.
Sonia, a native of Mexico and whose daughter suffers from cerebral palsy, worries that her family’s deportation will cause her child to not receive adequate medical care.
“If we go to Mexico and we have to bring her, it is certain she will not live much time,” she explained.
