After gaining the final support needed by Republicans in Congress to stay alive, the newly revised American Health Care Act is now on its way to seek Senate approval.
But the new health bill, if passed, will affect women across the country –particularly poor women—as it severs access to Planned Parenthood, for patients on Medicaid.
It will limit access to preventative care, Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood, said during a speech at PEN America’s World Voices Festival.
Richards called the potential impact of the new health care bill, “devastating” for poor families and women of color, who heavily rely on Planned Parenthood resources for preventative care.
