A Harvard study found that elderly patients in hospitals receive better care from female doctors, than male counterparts.
Patients were less likely to die or return to the hospital, the study published in JAMA Internal Medicine reported.
“32,000 fewer patients would die if male physicians could achieve the same outcomes as female physicians every year,” researchers estimated.
“An editorial about the study urges doctors to remedy the gender disparities in care and the pay gap that favors male physicians over women,”wrote NPR.
The reason why female physicians have better outcomes than male counterparts has not been determined.
