Tied for its second-largest donation yet, the University of Chicago has received $100 million from the Thomas L. Pearson and Pearson Family Members Foundation to open The Pearson Institute for the Study and Resolution of Global Conflicts, set to open in the Fall of 2016. The institute will be a part of the university’s Harris School of Public Policy and will analyze data-based research on war-torn countries that have become breeding grounds for terrorism as a result of violent conflict. University officials expect the institute to be an innovative step forward in foreign policy education during a time when ISIS poses threats to security in the Middle East and worldwide.
