After reviewing hundreds of submissions from local nonprofits, Google announced yesterday it has chosen 10 finalists for its second annual Impact Challenge: Bay Area, a competition designed to find and fund innovative ideas to bring positive change to neighborhoods throughout the region. Finalists include programs to make legal aid accessible, transform public spaces, reimagine the justice system, help parents and teachers connect, support woman with loved ones in prison, and more. Members of the public will have until October 20 to cast votes for their favorite finalists. The top four will each receive $500,000. The next six will receive $250,000 apiece. Fifteen additional finalists will each receive $100,000. Winners will be announced on October 21.
